Dispatches, on Channel 4, named Garry O’Connor, the Hibernian and Scotland forward, as having failed a drugs test for cocaine while at Birmingham City and served a secret two-month ban during the 2009-10 season. The programme said that the test took place on October 19, 2009, just a few weeks before Alex McLeish, the Birmingham manager at the time, had announced that O’Connor would need an operation related to a groin ligament injury that could keep him out of action for three or four months.
