c64 returns.

wow thats expensive as hell for what it is.. i could build a small compact pc with much better specs for the living room at half the price

Altho its expensive I bet they sell a fair few. Looking at it makes me feel old but brings back nice memories. Think i may get my zx spectrum out :)

Just read about this at the BBC website, where they show a picture of California Games... Oh the hours I lost in my youth to that game, after we came back from playing footie!

Owned a C64 back in the day, loved it, but this just looks like a complete cash-in. All they've done is make a PC case/keyboard combo in the style of the old machine, and they want $250 for it. If you want one with some actual hardware in it, then you can pay $595... bargain. I'd imagine the emulator software supplied is just a copy of VICE or CCS64 aswell.

I'm sure news of this came around last year sometime I just can't find the link now

As i see it, it's nothing more than cras cash in on a name with virtually no reference to the heritage aimed squarly at the info geek iPhone generation with more money than sense

Meh they pinched my idea.

Ah well im glad to see the old computer in a keyboard case come back, maybe well see the spectrum return too to compete with that commodore. :p

Just imagine playing emulated commodore and specy games on it tho. Be like playing the old computer but no cassettes all over the place as it be on the hard drive.

The Commodore 64 is back

Technically, the reincarnated C64 shares little with the device that shares its name

If it came with the games that I knew and loved for £100 I'd consider it, but just for the case with dated hardware, forget it.

Don't see the point. If you want to use it as a PC with gimmick factor, the hardware's not worth the price, and if you want to emulate C64 games, there are better ways.
If I wanted the nostalgia, I'd pick up a broken C64 from a fleamarket and use it as a sugur bowl or pretzel dispenser. Or a have Pez pop out when I press a key.
I can imagine the guys over at Lemon64 to be slobbering over it though.

I don't see why they even bother releasing this and OMG at the price.

Are you supposed to play old c64 games on it or will they release few games and then nothing more for the rest of it's life.

Lol. This is the same as buying a mac. PC Parts in a fancy case costing twice the price. . . . .

I wouldn't buy one, but it is well executed.
