just got a netgear WPN824 V2 router for the house,

cant get the bleeding thing to work :(

not in terms of wireless its fine both laptops can see the router (network)

my problem is that i cant connect to the internet from the router

If i connect my pc directly to the cable modem web is fine(as i'm doing now

if i go through the router i cant conect to the web but i can ping the router and log on to the router quite happily

below are the settings i'm using

its ntl 20 meg connection btw

no login for the connection

no acc or domain name

dynamic ip from isp
dns automatically from ip
and routers mac address

also tried my own ip

81.101.54.184(ip)
255.255.252.0(subnet)
81.101.54.1(gateway)
with dns's of

62.253.162.237
194.168.1.237

no joy guys

any suggestions

i spent an hour with netgear tech support who suggested dynamicly from isp all the way and they were as much use as a chocolate tea pot (2nd line support were supposed to call be back 3 hours ago but never did)

c;mon ocuk help a networkphobe out here :)

Turn off your cable modem for 20 minutes. Or, use the MAC address of your PC network card in the router then restart router and cable modem. All other settings on auto.

Look on the Setup>Basic Settings page. At the bottom. Use either 'Use Computer MAC Address' or 'Use This MAC Address' and manually enter the MAC address of the network card in your PC.

Turn off all computers

Unplug the modem (power)

Reset the router

Leave for a few minutes

Plug modem into router
