Hey all need some help making sure I'm getting the right cables for my new setup, got two questions for you:

I have a graphics card with my old screen connected using the DVI port, I need to get a mini-Display Port to Display Port cable for my recently purchased monitor as it didn't come with one (thanks for the warning OCuK )

Connecting to a Samsung 40" TV (LE40B554M2W) which has USB and HDMI ports on it, PC is roughly 4 meters away (will need a 5m cable)

First - am I right about miniDP(f)-DP(m) for the monitor, and thinking HDMI to the TV?

Second -My intended use is dvd/blueray films, HDTV x264 TV shows from the pc to TV, occassional gaming - what level/quality/grade cables should I be looking at?

Many thanks!

Yes you are right about the cables and quality etc matters not all reviews show pricy ones and cheap ones all wihin 2% of each other so don't worry about it

Well to be fair when looking at 5m cables it might be worth to not buy the cheapest you can find but one step up as interference can become somewhat problematic. I'm using cables from HQProducts and they all work great but the above post is right in that they're all practically the same, certainly the case with shorter cables at longer ranges differences in shielding will come into play to make a difference.
