We're getting cable installed on Wednesday and I need to get a Router sorted. Coming from ADSL I know nothing about cable!

A friend has recommended me "Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router/4-Port Switch" to be linked with the modem that the cable ISP supplies?

Help would be appreciated.

Cheers

It should work well. Cable modems have an ethernet port which you connect to the WAN port on the router, just as you'd connect the wall socket to the line socket on an ADSL router.

You might consider the WRT54GR which should give better wireless range if this is important to you. The Netgear WGT624 is also worth a look. If you can buy a 'cable' router that's the same make as the ADSL one you were using, you shouldn't have any trouble setting it up.
