Hey, Just a quick description of the above image. The two middle sections represent RJ45 Wall sockets, connected either side are Cross Over Cables.

Now im fully aware of how to wrire a straight through cable to connect each end through the wall sockets to make a complete connection, but im am unsure of how to wire a wall socket in order to connect two ends of a Cross Over cable, is it simply a matter of wiring each section on the Wall socket to match each end of the cable or does it need to be reversed?

Help would be appreciated.

yes you would wire each socket the same.

However if you are connecting two pcs together in the above image you only need one crossover cable as two would cancel each other out.

True, the problem is that i have my cable modem in one room and my firewall in another, wouldnt be a problem except that the external interface on the box has to be hooked up to the modem/router via a cross over cable, i had already installed the wall sockets and wried them for a straight through connection, dont realy want to be make anymore holes though.

Cheers for the reply.

just wire the wall sockets together the same, and use one patch cable and one crossover cable.
