Hi there. I'm going to relocate an outside light and install an additional one. I need to know what sort of cable to use. Lights are likely to be a 10w + 30w max so not that powerful. Do I need IP 65 and stick it in some UV resistant conduit?

It depends how the cable is run and whether it needs mechanical protection or not, definitely use black for it's UV protection and don't bother running in flexible conduit as that doesn't offer any real benefits.

It's basically going to come out the side of my detached garage, and be mounted along the back of some fence panels (2.5 panels), split at a junction box and terminated at 2 lights, one either side of the fence where a gate is, to give light either side.

Second query. Would this junction box be fine, or a bit too much? Only need to split to 2 so I'm tempted to just run to the first light and run a cable from the light to the second (in series), but not sure if that's "best practice".

There's nothing wrong with running straight from the first fitting to the 2nd at all but sometimes there simply isn't room for 2 cables in the fitting especially if you want to maintain the IP rating.
