Hi,
Got myself an ultrabook this week (Acer S3-391). Comes with a 20GB Cache/Hibernation SSD and a 500GB HDD. I'm going to replace the HDD with an SSD this week. Is there anything I can do with the 20GB cache SSD? Could I format it in NTFS and give it a drive letter for a bit of extra storage?

Doesn't show up in windows, but it can be seen in Disk Manager. The Cache element of the drive doesnt prevent it from being used conventionally then?

Ram disk is a good idea as the lappy only has 4gb RAM that is soldered to the board.

sorry i got mixed up,ramdisk is used in spare memory not ssd

i think all caching ssd's are hidden from the os,was when i last used mine for caching, whats up with the way it is now? i found caching to work well

Ramdisk - yeah I knew that too... :/

I don't need the space on the laptop and would prefer the performance of a full SSD, plus it's quieter and slightly better battery life.

So my question is still, the caching SSD, does it have to stay as a Cache or can i format it?
