Hey peoples!

Trying to find someone who might be able to help me out with a 3D CAD drawing... I have two parts I need to be squiffied together and although I do design and ai and all sorts... not a clue on 3D CAD stuff!

Can PM some piccies in a bit!

Cheers peoples!

I believe SolidWorks exports to DXF files so I guess it would work dandy!

It's a couple of items which we need to send to a place that does 5 axis milling!

Will PM you a link to the items!

edit: Or Maybe not!! Can't seem to find PM on OCUK! Linky is here: CAD Drawings Required

Quite easy parts to model, but impossible without a set of 2D drawings (which if you have I imagine you already have access to the DXFs, unless you only have PDFs of the drawings).

P.S. I'm a freak and use Soild Edge.

Where are the dimensions for these things?

edit: Solid edge for the win :)

edit2: Any chance you have access to the camera setup which lets you scan 3D objects into a computer? Long shot, but would be well suited to this

I'll do it for you, any format and output you like but at the very least i'd want a fag packet sketch of sizes, better still a 2D drawing or the object.

Oh, and its £50/hr +VAT for that kind of work, and i'm not kidding! :)

^How many hours do you think it would take TRNC? Sketching the things is straightforward enough, but getting the dimensions close enough for CNC machining purposes with a "fag packet sketch" is quite a talent.

I dont know becuase you cant see it all, but not overly long.

The key is the OP said they want the bits to fit together, i could make it 1000mm +/- 0.1mm and have all parts fit together, or 10mm +/- 0.01mm and have them fit together. Both of which are CNC machinable (if you have the kit) and could be done from a fag packet sketch! ;)

Your better off giving those bits to the company who are going to be making the stuff. Its not really 5 axis work ether.
Most of the work will be drawing the models. The machining can be generated from the models if they are done well.

I can generate parts from a decent IGES file.

Thanks so much for your feedback and offers!

I can do some 2D drawings although need to find some time for this. I guess the alternative is to send off as it's been suggested!

Will have a play with them in a bit once I have completed some other work... see what I can do!

Thanks Morbius :) Understand it's not a simple drawing so yeh!

Must learn how to do CAD stuff at somepoint... would be handy!
