Cadbury has removed the famous phrase "glass and a half" from its Dairy Milk bars after 80 years, having been told it contravenes European regulations.

The phrase was originally used to explain the amount of milk in every half-pound chocolate bar.

In its place, it now reads: "The equivalent of 426ml of fresh liquid milk in every 227g of milk chocolate".

I mean come on.
What the hell is this world coming to!

I see - it's the use of non-metric measurements that's causing the issues, not the actual milk content that's in dispute. Funny stuff, bound to cause outrage with the anti-EU crowd. All in all, a bit of a stupid application of legislation, really.
 
It's a pretty stupid slogan anyway, is a "glass" an official imperial measurement? I don't think so. The slogan could mean anything, a shot glass and a half of milk, or a pint and a half of milk. As said though, it doesn't contravene any European laws, it's just a marketing stunt similar to how Heinz said they were going to stop making salad cream.
 
However, trading standards said the EU rules did not apply in this case.

"The Cadbury slogan is well known by consumers and should not be confused or caught up with food labelling laws," said Andy Foster at the Trading Standards Institute.

He said it was not part of the ingredients list, and so was not affected by rules regarding food labelling.

"Therefore the Trading Standards Institute would have no objection to the continued use of the famous slogan unless it was considered misleading by consumers."

A five day old non-story. Who cares, no milk has been spilt. The actual weight on the packet is metric and it isn’t going to stop anyone buying the stuff. ;)

The signature rules:

A signature may contain one or more images but they must fit within a box with maximum dimensions of 400 x 75 pixels (width x height) and with a maximum (combined) file size of 20k. Images containing mostly very large words or animated .gifs will not be permitted. You may also add 1 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text directly above or underneath the image with no spaces inbetween image and text. If no images are used then up to 4 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text is permitted. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined as having a maximum length of 400 pixels.

Don't worry about it. Just get it changed asap or remove until you can. :)
