Mrs Youstolemyname and I popped over to Nice for a week's sunshine and took a day trip to Monaco. We thought it would be good to have a spot of lunch in the Café de Paris, overlooking the casino square for a bit of people watching.

I chose the Club Sandwich and an Orangina. The mrs had a Morelli's ice cream sundae.

The sundae was great but have a look at the insipid, flavourless excuse of a club sandwich hiding in the background. And guess how much this little lot set us back :o

42 Euro!! Insane! No wonder Monaco is the preserve of the rich and famous! It was a lovely setting though, just an incredibly disappointing (and border-line theft!) excuse of a sandwich!

Everywhere else we ate in Monaco was much more reasonable. The little café outside the palace is great :)

Agreed, i don't think i bothered going there but we found an amazing Pizzeria that was very reasonable.

A lot of the little cafes by the water i recall doing litres of beer for 4 euros. It was during Euro 2004 and they all had these tiny little tv's showing the matches.

Absolutely amazing place though. Never been anywhere else with outdoor escalators!

Love the Cafe de Paris, hate the prices. :D €15 for a Gin & Tonic...

However, sitting out there late in the evening with the unofficial supercar parade is quite entertaining.

Yep, was a great way to spend an hour or so, spotted some great cars including a Ferrari Enzo...rare as hen's teeth. From memory I think it was about €9 for a half of Heineken...

Awesome city, we ate beside the water which was much more reasonable. I had one drink in a bar near the casino and it was hard to hand over my money with a straight face!

Last time I was there there was some pretty pricey stuff about. Zonda F, Aston Martin One-77, Veyron Supersport... and many Mini Mokes. :D
Can't actually remember where we ate, but 3 courses for 6 of us came to just over €200, not bad at all.

We saw loads of mini mokes too! With hindsight we should have ate at the bistro but wanted a prime view of the square. Bistro wanted 27 euro for a burger which is better value in some ways..

Cost me 5 euro's for a bottle of coke when i went lol

We went on a cruise and ended up there while they were setting up the GP amazing experience walking round the circuit and nice cars and yaughts were endless.

That is a major rip off, although if a place doesn't have prices on the outside and when inside I find they want 2 weeks pocket money for a coke, I'll just walk out before ordering.
