Call of Cthulhu - Official E3 2017 Trailer

After seeing the recent dev playthru I would say buyer beware which is a real shame as it looked so good last year  When watching the devs play recently it was obvious the lack of animation frames is really noticeable looks like its coded on a tightly restricted budget development path with a small team & not enough resource for additional QA but now its launching anyway (probably publisher pressure).

Such a shame but it looks like the high price is to recoup the licensing costs more than anything else. The actual game looks pretty weak overall especially compared to The Sinking City (due next year).

Or is it another case of a dev. company knowing that no matter what sort of unfinished abortion they release, idiots will still pay to lap it up?

In this case they chose the wrong release date then! Should have dumped it before xmas or late December. As it stands I think the game will quietly go back to the underworld it was developed in!

I used to play the D&D type game as a teenager and I loved all of the mythos etc with Cthulu and Dimensional Shamblers etc.

Should be an instant purchase but something is telling me to hold fire until a few reviews hit.

Good job the Steam refund policy works as long as you only play for under 2 hours ;)

That is all I needed to see how poor this game is:

PlayStation 2 era pre-rendered bink format cutscenes riddled with poor laggy lipsync & horrible compression artifacts.
Feels like an unfinished alpha build
2010 era graphics looking very dated & lacking imagination
Poorly designed gameplay & confusing mission goals
Poor controls
Very laggy in places for no apparent reason it uses Unreal Engine 4 but looks like it uses Unreal Engine 1
Weak voice over actors
The game looks and feels like it was designed as a Playstation 2 title then put on a shelf for about 10 years.
Even for under a fiver it would be hard to find something good to say about it (other than its only a fiver wasted!).

Overall this is a very poorly produced game riddled with bugs, poor FPS no matter what settings you chose & looks very very dated. All it has going for it is the Cthulhu licence.
