call of duty 5 pc does not recognise 360 pad

Such a boring argument. People need to remember that in this day and age there are plenty of people playing PC games on media center PCs plugged into their big screen TV - and it's not always comfortable or convenient to use the keyboard and mouse.

If he wants to use a pad to play the game, there's obviously a good personal reason why he'd want to do so. Maybe the reasons are similar to the aforementioned, or maybe he's traditionally a console gamer more familiar with a pad.

Horses for courses, as mitch pointed out (and was subsequently ignored).

I too use a 360 pad on the PC. After years away from PC gaming I just find the mouse and keyboard combination hard to use now, and actually feel somehow less involved with what is happening on-screen.

Anyone who disagrees that you shouldn't play with what you feel most comfortable with is the real nub.

Ah pc elitism gotta love it. At least op still buys games for the pc. If he wants to buy for the pc (better graphics, better performance etc) then it can only be good for pc gaming. If people get forced away from pc gaming because they use a controller and get put down because of it they will stop playing and buying the games and pc gaming will die due to poor figures. Yeah keyboard is more accurate but if he buys the game then he should be allowed to play it how he wants.

Is there any local splitscreen co-op on COD5 on PC? I havent had a proper play of it yet, but if you cant use a gamepad natively then I dont know how split screen would work. One of the joys of using a gamepad. (I have a 32inch tv so inb4 people saying split screen would be crap on a pc monitor)

up to him how he wants to play the game even though its garbage :p

thee is no comparison and seems a bit troll like to me but heh whatever floats your boat.

its like trying to play snooker with a broom handle when you have a proper cue at side of you, pointless.

What the hell does PC elitism have to do with anything in this thread?

FPS games shouldnt be played with Joypads :/ Its not elitism! Its fact lol

Mouse and Keyboard offers much quicker and accurate controls than a Joypad when playin FPS games.

Joypads are for... Platformers? and Beatem ups!

Why do people state the obvious time and time again whenever this argument crops up? Everyone knows that a competent k&m player is going to react quicker than a competent gamepad player; but a console gamer that's more comfortable on a pad might be able to react quicker and find it easier than he would do using the keyboard and mouse.

It's obvious that fast paced FPS' are going to be hard to play with a pad - for some... and trying to play online against other k&m gamers isn't going to work.

I actually quite like the way gamepads offer analogue movement (speed). I know that's not needed when you're playing the fast paced games, as you'd be running full pelt; but I loved using the gamepad with Fallout 3 playing at 1920x1080 on the big screen with surround sound.

In any case, "gamepads are rubbbissh lolzelrs!" comments are irksome. Dunno why people can't see them as a viable control method these days.

It's because choosing a pad over a keyboard is pretty much gimping yourself. The amount of control you lose over aiming is pretty horrendous, so much so that console games tend to aim for you these days. A fat lot of good an analogue movement speed does if the sacrifice you have to make for it is slow and clunky aiming. Where does the skill or sense of accomplishment come from in a game where it does all of the legwork in aiming for you? It really is just aim in the general direction and you'll hit them.

It's like getting into the cockpit of a plane, trying out all the controls, seeing that they work excellently for the job of flying the plane then deciding to scrap them entirely and use interpretive dance instead. You've just made life one hell of a lot harder for yourself and no matter how good you get at interpretive dance, you're still going to suck at flying the plane.

If people want to limit themselves thats their problem, it just means easy kills for everyone else.

Theres no need to put people down because of it imo. (not aimed at you, just in general)
