This is now up for pre-order with a release date of 09/11/10 on a large retail games store site.
Just thought i would post to let everyone know.

Don't care tbh..

MW2 may have been a terrible game but it made IW more money than any game before it, I doubt Treyarch would change that formula, when they do their own thing it never really works.

It'll be the same re-hashed formula. So...fun and worth playing but ultimately leaves you feeling empty inside.

I can't see them doing anything special with this... they know people will lap it up just because of the name on the box.

Hopefully some time down the line Respawn Entertainment can take their skills and make the definitive MW game without the influence of Activision.

Or they'll just rehash the same stuff as they know it will make them a butt load of money for less effort.

After all they left over money not over creative freedoms ;)

The trailer doesn't reveal much although if anything, I'm glad Treyarch are doing a modern game instead of WW2. CoD Black Ops, Medal of Honor, that's at least two to kinda lok forward to later on in the year.

The game looks to span a couple of era's, if so this could bring a very interesting angle to the multilayer side, multiple different maps designated to different era's medleys of weapons on other maps, may bring a nice angle to the game, would certainly force them to balance the game more.

It's not particularly modern, it's just not as old as WW2?

That's just an arcade game though to test out Frostbite 2's damage system?

I've played it on the 360 a bit and it was great fun, it's more like Bad Company 2 with less weapons but bigger maps and most importantly 'planes' !! I consider both BC2 and 1943 arcade type but ultimately more fun than MW churn.

You do realise that IW is practically no more. Check out bash and slash. com for teh 2 part pod cast. THis upset may have done them a favour.

Nothing's been confirmed yet, it's still all rumor. Early rumors speculated a Vietnam era game, later rumors believe it to be set from the Vietnam era and spanning right up to the present day although nobody can say for definite because nothing has been confirmed. What do you mean when you say it never works when Treyarch do their own thing?

They did a great job on World at War I thought and it took Modern Warfare and improved certain aspects. The multiplayer was improved over Modern Warfare and also the Single Player wasn't bad either. If it was a bad game it would have gotten universally bad reviews, which it didn't. Also, I don't get why people are already saying they won't buy this game when we've heard virtually nothing about it barring some speculation and a 1 minute video that shows barely anything of the game or it's features.

A few aspects maybe, except they left in a ridiculously overpowered class for multiplayer.

World At War's entire single player was hopping between various war films, e.g. the Stalingrad mission even used the same shots as Enemy At The Gates.

The engine was taken completely from CoD4 and the only "original" feature was pretty much just a rehash of putting L4D into a "proper" FPS, not entirely an original idea?

I'm saying anything they've done that was successful in any measure has been largely lifted from something else.

The Stalingrad mission, the only similarity was that you're in a fountain at the beginning the same as the movie. I guess you could say the sniper that tricks you with his helmet going up and down but that was a tactic so just because it was portrayed in EATG first doesn't mean that COD has ripped it off in my opinion.

The engine was something they had to use. firstly because they only had a year and a half to make the game and secondly because at the time the engine was one of the best available on the Xbox 360, they didn't really have the time or resources to make a brand new engine from scratch. MW2 uses almost the same engine, is that a bad thing too?

As for Nazi Zombies, if you've ever played L4D you'll realise it's nothing like Nazi Zombies and the only similarities are that they both contain zombies. I just don't see your point at the moment, maybe you can sway me though.

It seems there will definately be dedicated servers for COD: Black Ops. From readng a few articles an Bash and Slash website it seems Treyarch are making a big effort to listen to the community this time round. In fairness they did start listening to the community eventually with COD:WAW but it was 2 late at that stage.

Considering its Treyarch I am actually optimistic about this COD title. I think that they didnt get enough time to develop COD:WAW and want to do themselves justice with this COD release.

I seriously hate MW1 + 2, both games just aren't nice to play (IMO ofcourse)

I really enjoyed WaW on the ps3 though. The single player was pretty good, the online felt better and Nazi zombies could've been a seperate game with the amount of hours I spent on it.

I'm not sure if I'll buy black ops though. If they have an equivelant of Nazi zombies in it, I'm game. I can't see much else swaying me to buy it though.

I just feel that Treyarch are gonna go all out on this one to prove a point, esp after the disaster of COD3 and the disappointment of COD WAW.

Well traditionally Treyarch take a good COD game developed by IW and make it crap, (COD3 WAW), so I'm not getting me hopes up too high. However, it does appear as though they are really trying on this one, and listening to the community can't hurt either so i'll give it a bash.
