Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022)

I'll pick this up (on disc) to play the campaign as the campaign on MW2019 was excellent. And I'll give MP a try but I won't get my hopes up. We haven't had a decent COD since BO3.

Not sure about that, I thoroughly enjoyed Ground War in MW19.

Why are the neck bearded sweats desperate to be matched with the noobs?

Why would that be fun for said noobs?

It’s not about slaying noobs all the time, it’s everything that goes with it, before strict SBMM existed you never knew what lobby you would get thrown into and that was the fun of it, then there’s also the side effect of disbanding lobbies which takes away another element of fun. Back in the day playing several matches against the same people could lead to much hilarious voice chat and you got for chat to people

This beta has SERIOUS connection issues for me. Just been sniping on invasion, lined up shots perfectly in still enemies and not one single hit marker, they snipe me back instantly.

Invasion also seems rough, the more I play this game I pray it doesn’t release in this state because it feels unfinished, yes I know it’s a beta and all, but previous years betas have felt light years ahead of this one

Invasion will not find me a match below 72ms ping btw

A few more games later and boy I had to turn it off, this is a very enjoyable game ruined by things that cannot be changed, the people that play it. It’s just become too hyper aggressive and people with nano second reactions snapping to you instantly and you die without chance to shoot back.

the SBMM (I can’t believe they even have this in a beta FFS) is waaaay to strong nowadays you are punished for even any semblance of doing well.

i can’t believe they’ve taken a franchise I would gladly spend 7+ hours playing and made it into something you are sick of playing after 1 hour.

When the game works (connection wise) it’s joyous, but sadly, with this beta, that time seems like every 2/10 games, the other 8 are all horrific and I’m up against people that kill me instantly and are seemingly CDL level opponents

I am still buying it because I hope in my heart that it’s like MW19 and Ground War is the saviour of the game, that mode was amazing and I enjoyed it a lot in MW19, I just want them to add the damn mode to the beta like they said they would

Holy ****…this game is even worse today connection wise. No bullet registration at all in ground war yet I’m dead before I even know whats happening.

I am 90% bordering on not even bothering with CoD anymore at this rate if the full game is going to be like this, I thought GW would be the saviour but it’s even worse than core game modes

I cancelled my preorder, I did it just for the early access on PS5, had some fun, but the maps and general feel felt exactly like MW2019 to me, will wait now and see how it is after release and decide. I prefer BF really, just a shame 2042 was so ****.

I haven’t preordered yet (won a code watching CDL and got an Xbox code via Sky VIP) so thankfully I have nothing to cancel, for me it feeling exactly like MW19 is a huge win because I love that game, however connection issues have made me consider just holding off a day or so to see what feedback comes out if it was just a beta issue or it’s made it to the full game

Mixed feelings about the campaign so far, played around two hours and uhm…yeah it looks pretty but I’m not sure on the missions.

Follow dude, check room, clear room, follow dude upstairs, check rooms, clear rooms…rinse repeat

I'm really not sure how I feel about £100 pre-order. What ever happened to the days of queueing up outside Game at midnight with a maccy D's and a few mates, garnished with £34.99
An increase in costs , games now cost £70 new and them bundling in digital stuff pushed prices up.

Those midnight launches were great though.

Is it greedy? I was paying £30+ for a sega master system game in the late 1980’s early 1990s. Very few things have stayed as cheap as gaming did for so long. I doubt wages are the same for publishers or advertising as it was back then.

Also the industry is so diluted now. Even in the 360 days, when a half decent new game came out we all got it and your friends list was full of people playing the new tomb raider for example. Now despite a bigger list rarely see people playing the shiney new game.

So what’s the cheapest method to get this?

PS or Xbox? And do you want to create a foreign store account? :D

Do you feel the additional digital content included in special edition versions of games actually cost the developer anything extra to produce, and is the hike in price worth a few skins and weapon blueprints?

Whilst I accept costs to produce content have increased in some ways, in others the cost has gone down. Additionally, more efficient and effective ways of working reduce costs further. Likewise revenue loss from piracy is also very limited (a previous excuse for increasing prices).

Feels more like a “new console, new price” opportunistic move rather than anything grounded in economics, particularly given the extraordinary profits made by franchises like CoD.

The £100 version is just a season pass pre-order no?

Activision were one of the early adopters of the “new gen new base price” tax sadly so yes in that regards it is exactly as you say, though I do not doubt that costs have massively skyrocketed in game development as the sheer numbers involved to push out CoD every three years (irrespective of if you think they actually work at launch lol).

No I don’t really feel there is much to the digital items included with CoD sadly, some of it does include 50 tier skips for this season, and the rest is the various skins for WZ1 and the vault pack for MW2, so not a great deal of value there.

I rationalise it my head that a) I’ll buy the battle pass anyway so that’s £16 off the price, I also will want the Series X version which means I’m in for £70 anyway so in essence it’s what, £14 more for a few digital bells and whistles? That’s nothing really as I shop around for Xbox credit from various stores online so I manage to save some here and there vs actually having to spend the full amount.

And I know (well I hope it’s still the case this year anyway lol) that I will spend A LOT of hours on MP so the return equates to something like £2 per hour for the entertainment so it’s very worth it IMHO, if I only played 1/2 hours outside of campaign i certainly wouldn’t be dropping £100 on a game
