called reinstall windows. why!?

Why is it when i want to reinstall windows i input the windows cd, it asks me to press any key to continue from the cd. It begins the install but gets to "setup is starting windows" then shortly after i get a blue screen error! Why is this? I've tried it on another pc exactly the same and ive even swapped the CD.

what reasons could their be for this blue screen of death?

Faulty RAM could be a problem. Try running memtest.

its not the memory i just swapped it

dammit! ive sent the bios back to default as well. going to try a new windows cd. maybe 3rd time lucky

are all CD's copies or different originals?

are the systems different on which you tried?

Ive had this problem. Turned out to be a duff CD drive! Its less likely to be this as you have tried 2 machines but they could both have the same cd/dvd drive in them both?
