I need a little help please.

My wife's birthday is 30th April and she will be away at her parents in Isle of Man. I can't go as I can't get the full week off work, only 3 days, so I want to surprise her in the morning on the 30th so when she wakes up and goes down to get breakfast, the plan is I will be waiting there at her parents. I need to travel from Nottingham to Isle of Man, Need to arrive in IoM on 30th April (EARLY HOURS) and leave IoM on 1st (AM if possible).

Anyone help me plan it as I will end up getting lost and screwing it up :D

Budget about £100

I found a ferry from Liverpool to IoM for £44 but comes back at a different time to what I need, and then its how do I get there, as in train wise as I dont have a car for that weekend, and I have been on about 2/3 trains in my life...
 
Heysham boat would get you there on time.

Get the 02.15 (Arrive 05:45) boat on the 30th.
Return - 08.45 (Arrive 12:15) boat on the 1st.
£44.50.
However, getting there is a bit of a ballache as there only seems to be one train a day to Heysham Port Station.

OK, this will be a ballache but it'll do the job.

Get the 11.10 Coach from Nottingham on the 29th to Morecambe. This will get you to Morecambe at 18.00. It has 2 changes. Fares from £18.75.

Nope, can't seem to get you back on the 1st...It's because it's a Sunday...
Post in Motors, ask if anyone wants to give you a lift? :D

PERFECT

I could hire a car for 3 days...think it is worth it? My mate works for a car hire company and said they can hire me a Ford KA for 3 days for £10 a day...This would be easier right?
 
I'm at work so can't go browsing but can someone see if the Ferry port at Heysham has a secure care park and how much a day it is please?

That sounds good to me. Only 150 or so mile drive, and quite easy. The price I quoted is based on a foot passenger, it's crazy expensive to do it with a car. £200+. Carparking at the ferry port is £7 for 24 hours, though one website says parking starts from £3 daily. But it might be free as it's a weekend?

So with parking, car hire, petrol and a foot passenger on the ferry I imagine it'll be less than £100. Assuming the other half is in Douglas, or her parents can pick you up, it should be easily do able.

Yep, her parents live in Douglas. Just e-mailed my Father-in-law to see how far away and I can take a nice walk as the sun is rising and see the sights on my way :D
 
I don't think so but the airline will want ID, so a passport is best. Which airline? They might be happy with a photocard driving license.

Where are you flying from? I did Liverpool to Ronaldsway a few years ago. Take off > just enough time to neck a drink > land :D

Sorted. Found my Passport as my Driving License photo looks NOTHING like me, I've changed a lot since it was taken. My passport is most recent. Ticket booked, lift softed to the airport, just got to try and keep my mouth shut until I go :)

Anyone from IoM that can recommend some nice places to go just me and my wife?
