Calling all space engineeers!

I tried it earlier, I don't know to even start building a ship, so..yeah

Yes I was the same I'm 20 hours in and just about got the idea

I'm building a station first.

It's on trail this weekend too if anyone want to try it

Thanks for the heads up on the server but I don't want to run one from my pc as I don't leave her on 24/7

Wanted to rent a server for us noobs to have a safe place to build.

Bit of a silly time to do a free weekend for them having just released planets which has destroyed the games playability, its nothing but a crashfest and slideshow at the moment.

I'm loving the planets, you can also spawn your own planets wherever you like, so make your own universe as large or as small as you like. At the moment I have around 5 planets in the world I am in at present. Its great.

But its a sandbox, so if your a sandbox player you'll like it. No real single player game as such (story). There are things you can do in-game regards simple missions in the scenario builder, but I haven't been in that so don't really know.
Just create your own game world. Lots of choices are in there, but it takes a little time to get around it all.

Oh, and its nothing like minecraft. It has blocks, yes, but that's where the similarity ends.

I fired up the trial and the tutorials didnt work :) said i needed the latest version which i had, apparently a bug with the last update! Great to release the weekend trial like that :D i imagine its now fixed?

Turn your settings WAY down, especially if you only have 8GB RAM like I do. With settings that worked just fine pre-planets (pretty much maximum) it was completely unplayable post planets due to a lack of memory. having turned the settings down to low/middling, (especially textures and shadows and possibly voxel quality too) I'm now getting 30-50FPS on the surface of planets with 7/8GB being used and 60FPS above them.

Is is PvP? Looks amazing but I haven't the time to be someone else's entertainment :(

SP or MP, whichever. But be warned MP can be a little problematic (sometimes), until they get fully done with the tweaks, which is soon I hear.

Don't forget this is still in early access, so expect problems, its why we're playing it, to try and help them iron those problems out. ;)

This game is blooming awesome, I have a lot of praise for it. Spent nearly 100 hours already and am no where near being done with it. One of the few early access games that is definitely worth it. Lots of mods, weekly updates, good devs. I play SP mostly as I am a loner lol.

Don't be put off by thinking it's minecraft in space..it's much more than that!

this game is awesome I am currently playing single player.

The only thing that offends me is when I have searched and scratched around to get enough materials to build a load of solar panels as I am having power issues only to have a meteor shower destroy most of them.

And those stupid dogs annoy me too they may have to be switched off

Been enjoying Space Engineers for a while, it's normally my main game on a Monday evening or Saturday night at the moment.

I ended up turning off the Cyberhounds after my first session with them, they are beyond irritating with the frequency that they spawn near you and interrupt any kind of work.

Meteor showers aren't so bad if you have them on the lower setting.
I'm currently attempting to design a retractable roof system that I can put over mine to give them a layer of armour during showers, then I can turn the frequency up a little bit.
Turning off the meteors completely can make the game a bit too quiet for survival mode.
