i have one 21gb torrent on the go at the moment. it's taken 4 days to get to 62%. that's mainly due to BT throttling torrents, the gits. i have a monthtly cap so why can't i choose how to use it. :D

Patience my young padawan. :p

I've just downloaded a 23G torrent that took me two weeks. I did download other files as well. I'm about to start a 15G download. :)

oh i am patient. i only used the  face because it's BT throttling it.... :p

i think the problem with BT is that they don't enforce the caps and that's why they throttle p2p traffic. i'd much rather they left all traffic alone and enforced the caps. for example i'm on option4(most expensive package) and get 50gb a month transfer. without doing the maths i could hammer my 8mb connection and probably download that in a day or 2. so overall i would hardly affect their network at all over the course of a month. i'm paying for the bandwidth, i want to choose what to do with it..... :(

* Saturated upload bandwidth
* Too many connections per torrent

My best guess on your problem.

If your on ntl 1Mb dont expect to set your MAXIMUM upload bandwidth above 15-25kbs. Upload speed on Ntl/Telewest sucks.

Best advice. Read the Wiki for whatever torrent program you have. Otherwise known as RTFM.

Zen Unlimited 2mb + Newsgroups are the only way to go!

Im with BT and on the same package as u, got busted in summer for going over my limit, so they must monitor/enforce the limits ?

Also dont the isp's just throttle the commom bit torrent port ranges i.e 6881-6999 ?

Ive always struggled with my p2p downloads never really found out why either.

I dont think I can get more correct either, its taken me like 3 months to do this 46gig rar with a 24/7 connection and still at 70%, yeah its poorly seeded, in fact only 1 person with 100% rest are all on 60-80%.

But lol far too long, thats despite being on 2meg/Zen/Ports forwarded correctly and Bitlord 1.1 used.

Possible the Bitlord 1.1 is just slow.... may retry utorrent but last time that just didnt bother to even start downloading any file.

This is even after applying the SP2 TCP patch to unlimited;)

Possible just my bad, I decided tonight just to upload @ 18k rather then 12k, and selected one torrent at a time to download.

Seems to have improved a lot more.... and already finished one pain the neck download ;)

quite possible since I moved from emule to torrent im use to just going nutz and cueing 20-30 items :o think ill try sticking to 2-3 downloads at a time ?
