Are any NTL broadband users having problems browsing sites?

I'm having particular problems with eBay, Paypal - and I haven't been able to sign into my Hotmail account all day, I can only enter my login details in.

Yup the service has been appalling the last few weeks. DNS seems to die every few days, RDP sessions start failing all the time and loss in online games is dreadful.

Download speeds are tending to fluctuate constantly aswell even from known reliable sources. The other day we were download at 1-1.3mb/s then it'll drop down to 100kb/s, normal http downloads.

On lichfield UBR here, except for the 7th March, the service has been great. no noticable loss in packets in games (at least css doesnt show it in netgraph 3). Downloads from FTPs are at about 9.7mbit second, if the FTP can support it, and normal HTTP downloads are averaging around 5-6Mbit (again depending on site)

I had 2 hours within a connection at all this morning and since then ive been having poor browsing and downloading speeds, and havent been able to send or recieve emails at all. I cannot even send them using their webmail service, the mails bounce back every time.

First major problem ive had in 3 years though.

Those websites all use HTTPS, which is interesting. Have you got a firewall which could be blocking access to secure websites?

If not. it's probably NTL :o

Just told Sygate to allow all () and they both remain the same!

I have only recently been able to see eBay - more than I could do half an hour ago. :(

Im in Darlington too and having small problems. Some sites (eBay been one) sometimes aren't loading properly. Even Google couldn't be found yesterday :(

Out of interest, can you sign into Hotmail?

Paypal is working a litte, but eBay will NOT let me login to look at my auctions. :(

I've heard NTL are "network balancing" to make way for new speed trials. I'm here in London and the service has been terrible the last week. You are not alone.

Are you using Firefox or IE as your browser? When my connection was at its worst a couple of days ago, i switched proxy servers, and it went back ot normal.

The proxy i used was - pete-cache-3.server.ntli.net
port 8080

See if it works for you until they sort their service out

No luck for me. :(

It's been on and off for the past few weeks. Just think of the free quadrupling in speed. Yum yum can't wait.

been grim for me for about a week or more, i'm on a 2meg line & my speeds are fluctuating wildly, yesterday it ranged from 33k to 1.7mb. what ever there doing i hope they sort it soon cos i'm getting pretty pee'd off with it. would love a game of BF2 but got no chance with this conn.
