Calling on rust experts!

Hmm I'd expect the rust to come back in the not too distant future TBH. Looking at the cut out section you can see 80% of the metal right up to the outside edge is rusty. It's going to continue like that on the inside of the sill that hasn't been cut out and will eventually rust through into another hole. As a short term fix the end product looks OK, but the rust will return.
 
Most repaired areas of corrosion return at some point, it's inevitable with sparsely protected mild steel box sections. That repair is certainly better than a lot of garages would undertake if asked to put am MOT patch on a corroded area but it obviously won't last as long as a full replacement sill.

Taking the rubber bung out of the end of the still and squirting a load of Waxoyl or Dinitrol will really help the repair last longer.
