Calling people with Mac Books/Mac Book Pros.

1) MacBook Pro 2.33GHz 15.4" (non-glossy)

2) I store my photos, edit them. I also edit movies, listen to music and surf the net. Also things like coursework

3) Really portable, great battery life. Nice sound, perfect for what I need.

4) Some of the paint from the keys is wearing off but I don't think this is a general thing, just some dodgy keys on my laptop.

Im ever to close to buying a Mac Book Pro, but Im not entirely sure its totally warrented spending £1.6k on the 1920x1200 and 160Gb 7200 RPM Version.

So if you could state:

1. What Model and screen.
2. What you do with it. (Eg. mobile photo storage/editing)
3. Pros of your model.
4. Cons of your model.

Cheeers! :)
1. Awesome
2. Awesome
3. Everything
4. Nothing

Buy it!

Don't upgrade the RAM through Apple though - buy it separately - far cheaper.

1. What Model and screen.

MBP Santa Rosa 2.4GHz, 2GB, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 15" matte screen.

2. What you do with it. (Eg. mobile photo storage/editing)

All domestic computing except gaming. Also interested in music - I have Guitar Pro5 and I'm serious looking at some MIDI software.

3. Pros of your model.

Fast, efficient, portable. It has a long battery life too.

4. Cons of your model.

Very hot even when idling.

MBP Santa Rosa 2.4GHz, 2GB, 160GB 5400rpm HDD, 15" matte screen (chose matte screen after comparing both in Apple Store).

2. What you do with it. (Eg. mobile photo storage/editing)

Photo storage/editing/uploading (when away from Desktop).
General domestic computing (MSN!!).
Runs Vista too.
Gonna be using it a lot for 6th Form stuff (coursework's etc)

3. Pros of your model.

Fast, efficient, portable.
Long battery life too.
Can use it outside even during mid-day sun (me facing into sun so screen facing away from sun, brightness set to max)
8600M GT 256mb  (for running DX10 games in Vista)

4. Cons of your model.

Can get hot when running on lap.
Dad thinks Apple user = hippy
££££££££ - I'm 16 so had to buy MBP without HE Discount (plus Vista, Office Mac, AppleCare, Wireless Mighty Mouse)

All you had to say on the phone was that you were in Uni :o

I left uni coming up to 2 years ago, and have only been asked to prove it once (in 8 purchases)

Heh, im hoping that UCAS card and application number will be enough :p

Anyone ever tried haggling? Maybe the guys on the phone are on a commission? What country are they in?

Im still stuck on what to buy. Its PROBABLY going to be the bottom one as getting the next one up means I might aswell get the full kick ass one!

But as ill have a games and quad core watercooled PC, graphics mem and CPU speed isn't THAT required.

But a 7200RPM HD is required....

I dunnooooo.

People with 15 inch and Lightroom, ever get really annoyed with lack of space?

But then again any major work would be at home on a 2407....

So I think a 15 Inch MBP will be on the way to meeee :D

Anyone with a MBP 15 can post FPS benchmarks at native res?

Interested in LFS/EVE.

Im debating whether I should ditch my PC completely but still want to run EVE/LFS @ Max with AA and AF etc...

Eve runs beautifully under Crossover on my 17"... not tried LFS, but i can do.

Not sure what res the 15" is, but as Eve runs well (30fps+) at 1920x1200 im sure it will run very well on a 15"

1. What Model and screen.

MacBook Pro 17", 2.33Ghz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 256MB X1600 and a Glossy Screen (1680x1050)

2. What you do with it. (Eg. mobile photo storage/editing)

I use it for Aperture, it runs better on my MBP than it does on my Dual G5 (which i think im going to sell ;) hint hint) Think its down to the graphics card. Also for CS2 and basically everything i do. Internet, email, Adium.. Also logic and music storage.

3. Pros of your model.

Nice big screen and size so is perfect for a desktop computer with no need for a separate monitor. Extremely fast laptop. Nice weight to it and feels expensive. Awesome amount of features e.g iSight, Bluetooth, 802/11n etc... Much smaller than other 17" laptops. Good battery life.

4. Cons of your model.

Sometimes can be too big e.g on a plane or commuting. Not many bags fit it. So big and nice that im a bit anal about how i treat it.

EDIT- Poor colour, needs calibrating properly. It may be this whats wrong or my WFP2007. Also the HDD is too slow for the power of the thing.

Well if it works well on a 17 then its gonna be good on a 15 :p

Now debating on 17 or 15 inch.

God this decision goes round in circles!!!

Edit: Ok guys with 15 Inch 2.4 and 17 Inch 2.4 with windows installed.

Can you run Live For Speed and get the FPS up and tell me what you get? I really hoping its atleast half as good as my XTX but I bet it won't :(
