Calzaghe vs Hopkins !!

Not seen much of Hopkins so can't really say, from what I have read though if Calzaghe sticks to his gameplan he should be ok (can't see it being a KO though)
 
That idiot above us made me laugh. Sad state of affairs really! :)

Joe will murder him. Hopkins is 43 now and won't have much stanima so will look at the big punches. Joe has fought people like this before and despatched them, this I see as being no different.

Hopkins used to be class and a great fighter, but Joe will have too much on him in my opinion.

Stoppage in the 8th.
 
Calzaghe to do Hopkins in 5. I just think Calzaghe is too fast and the best in his league. Hopkins is 43 for crying out loud.

Both great boxers. Had it been 6 years ago it would be a better fight.
 
Vegas fights always start abotou 4ish and typically end 5am- 5.15 am ish clearly depending pn how many rounds fight goes. But as previoulsy said I expect to go the distance to be honest or at least round 9.

tactical drinking and sleeping is the way forward I reckon
 
I don't think Joe will be knock Hopkins out. Old as he may be, I think he'll still defend and hold and spoil well enough to hold on. Calzaghe by majority decision is my guess.
 
I hope Joe knocks him out so he can say he finally got beat by a white guy. Realistically I think it will go to the judges and he will win on points.

It's a good match up and a tough one to call because no one really knows how bad Hopkins wants it. If he has really been going for it and rolls back the clock as a lot of guys seem to be able to do these days he will murder Joe.

Should be a great fight, and fairly close. Calzaghe to win on points I would say, hes quicker and has a much higher work rate. You can never really rule out Hopkins though, even at his age. Might have to sign up to setanta again! :(

lol class weigh in. "Is there anybody from Wales?" hehe. Can't wait for this fight I think Joe should win on points his workrate is unbelieveable.
 
I'd write Hopkins off at your peril he's never been knocked out and has got De La Hoya, Winky Wright and Antonio Tarver on his scalps list in the last 4 years! He's been inactive for almost a year though which might count against a guy of his age.

Would love Joe to win this just so he can finally get rid of the monkey off his back of never having won a big fight in Vegas, going to be tough to beat Hopkins on points imo plenty of scope for Joe to get robbed if it goes to the scorecards.

Be interesting to see what the step up in weights does to Joe he's been a super middleweight pretty most of his whole career (though Hopkins was a middleweight for most of his)
 
I hope Joe wins, just to ram that racist comment down his throat, but Hopkins is in superb shape and I think he'll be too strong for Joe, plus he's seen it and done it all before against far better opposition than Calzaghe.

Hopkins will probably make this a dirty fight as well and Cortez wouldn't be my ideal choice for referee, he pokes his nose in far too often for my liking.

Joe was shaken by Kessler, but Hopkins will hit harder and although I doubt he'll knock Joe out, I think he'll win on points on his home turf.

I dunno, that racist comment was backed up pretty good by Hopkins the other day in an interview. It basically said, what is wrong with supporting your race and culture? When there is a race element involved everybody, if not voicing it will support there race/culture on an unconscious level. I am just outspoken enough to admit it.

Having said that, if Calzaghe had made the same comment, I'm sure there would have been a major outcry.

I doubt the fight would happen if Joe had said the same. There would have been fears for his safety etc etc. He probably would have ended up quitting and being hauled before whichever governing body wanted the most headlines.

Race didnt need to come into it. I was sick of all the religious fights. Thanking whichever god gave them the strength etc etc.
