Cambelts = Important?

only the small fiat engines as far as i know
You young pups probably won't remember the old Ford 2 litre engines but I had a Cortina Ghia with a snapped belt. Took 10 minutes to fit a new one and drive it home without a problem.

stay away from the scenics

they faired terribly in both the JD Power Survery and the Which ? owners surveys

the owners didnt rate them for reliability at all. The picasso on the other hand, allthough boring did much better.

The Scenic and Grand Scenic were just pipped to seventh place by the Zafira, mainly because of problems with the interior controls - 63% of owners complained about this, making the Scenic the worst-performing MPV in this area.

There were also issues with the Scenic's running gear - 49% of owners reported problems.

50 % of owners reporting problems with runnning gears is not a good statistic. Check the JD Power link. allthough not ranked bottom, the numbers for reliability problems are much higher than the rest.

Auto didnt come out until 02 and thats on a 2.0 petrol which for use costs nearly twice the insurance compared to the scenic, scenic has better mpg, lower tax and the are more around here. Only picassos anywhere near our budget are dogs

If you simply must have a people carrier, and the Multipla is a seat short or just too damn ugly; get the Vauxhall.

No, i want a car which can carry 3 full car seats in the back which means;

Picasso
Scenic (99+)
Espace (new one)
Galaxy/Sharan/etc (facelift ones YPlate ish)
807

(plus a few others which i cant remember)

OK so your willing to buy a car that over half of owners report problems with the running gear, and is the near enough the worst performing MPV for reliability instead ?

seriously, either up your budget or compromise on the auto.

Because whatever you save on the Scenic in Tax / Petrol. You'll lose in repair bills. The Scenic is a classic example of french build quality.

Avoid the 807 like it's got MRSA, Aids and smallpox.
