Camcorder webcam question

Is it possible to use a camcorder as a webcam via USB? if so what would you need to do it. bit of a strange question i know but my dad is wanting to know

hmm I think you should just be able to use it via s-video cable....

So your graphics card obvisiously needs a s-video connection...

You plug in the yellow wire from your gfx card to the video camera and then set it up like that....

If you have ever setup tv out I am guessing its very similar to doing that

Yes, a webcam can use usb and be used as a camcorder. He would be limited by the chord length, location of his pc, and by having to use the image on the screen as a viewfinder, not to mention subpar quality.

Have a look on the manufacturers website for a webcam driver. The little JVC one I've got needed a patch installed to work as a webcam.

yeh mines a JVC one but theres nothing on there website for webcams

It was the USB driver which needed patching for the cam to work as a webcam - USB streaming patch.

Which model have you got?

Which version of Windows are you using?

JVC German site has the streaming USB driver for 98/ME/200 but not XP.
