Hey everyone,

I'm looking at getting a new camcorder, I've had an old mini dv one, I've got a Samsung Miniket, good portable cam, now I need something a little better for videos. In order of importance, it must:

1. Have to have an audio input (for microphones)
2. Good focus range/speed, zoom in an a pretty fast focus
3. Night Vision (for night video, not the "night mode" thing actual night vision type night vision....yeh)

Obviously a good brand, good value as possible, not too expensive, not specific about it been Mini DV, hard drive and the stuff, which ever formats cheapest, I'll be editing with the videos so probably not DVD unless it's better value somehow.

Thanks!

If you want a microphone input and something which does nightvision, then you should look at a Sony camcorder. I couldn't tell you an exact model but have a look on their website and you should be able to find a page with all of their camcorders.

Another vote for a Sony....

Just a quick question, why shy away from dvd camcorder? I find my current Hitachi model that records to dvd-r and dvd-ram is fine to edit from, just use some software to convert the finalised discs to mpeg2 files....

;)
