Came VERY close to a major accident last night.

a) you shouldnt have been going so fast

b) its not like you can park a tractor unit/trailer anywhere. and after all, its big enough to see even from 200 yards away.

What would you have done if the fella in the lorry was a psychopath and pulled a knife on you and stabbed you?

Seems you came VERY close to two major accidents last night?
Don't be so ridiculous. Everybody knows truck drivers don't carry knives. It's their axes you have to worry about, and they keep ther victims in the back and women's clothes up front as trophies.

It must be true, I read it in Viz

my car has no ABS either - i get around it by looking further ahead in the rain ;)

im not agressive enough to start road rage, although someone yesterday did give me the finger, seems they forgot to give way at roundabouts and i wasnt going to stop ;)

Yeah as suggested you should learn to pump the brake pedal.

I got good at this when I had my 309 as it had 165/70 R13 tyres (read virtually no grip in the wet) and because I was 17/18 I always drove too fast for the car/conditions :D

1 pump of the pedal was normally all it took to stop the skid.

thanks for the info guys :) will learn to do that for next time :)

tbh it was my first "poss accident" so i just panicked and held the brake pedal down.

Don't panic when driving, you could easily end up dead.

Don't have a go at a parked trucker, most of us (yes, I'm a trucker!) are just looking for some idiot (no offence ment) to vent our many frustrations on! - Any idea how hard it is to find somewhere to park a 55ft long vehicle? Also, where else do we wait when told to sit outside a companys premesis to make a delivery?
orange flashing lights on any vehicle indicate a hazzard of some sort, iirc, this is why there called hazzard warning lights!

Try to drive in such a manner where you can stop safely within your field of vision, again, a very good way to avoid death. Expect the un-expected and, you'll get along just fine mate.

Many truckers are "tooled up" I would'nt advise giving it the "big un" with the average driver I know of, especially if he's just watched you nearly ram him,

I could post many many times about the times other drivers have nearly caused me a major accident, thankfully, I make allowances for the unexpected actions of other road users, which (touch wood) has kept me out of trouble ,thus far.

I agree. With my dad being a trucker too, you dont relise what idiots car drivers are untill you have spent 2 weeks wondering around the UK and Europe in a truck.

Not just car drivers mate, vans, cars, bikes, trucks, just other "drivers" I'm afraid. :(
