camera noob help please

Hi there i am wanting to get a decent digital camera for my sister but dont have a clue what to get.

the absolute most i want to spend is £150,
needs to be easy to use and compact.

Canon A590 IS - a bit bigger than an Ixus but uses standard AA batteries and is easy to hold.
