Ok this is going to be my first digital camera apart from my camera phone, cause as far as they have come for shoting drunken fun down the pub, anite out on the town calls for a camera that can take good pics first time every time.

My challange to you is...
I need a camera that can deal with the "emo" style pics of me and a random person (were i hold the camera with my hand a take a pic of me and the other person)
Can stand being in my bag/pocket and a gig/club
Has RAW/TIFF output
Has exposure control

and maybe has some kinda of macro so i can setup a one click kinda style for some HDR playing

I've had a play with my girlfriends Powershot A560 and it's ok, but can't do RAW or TIFF

Any idears for me ???

Many thanks for any help.

You want RAW and decent exposure control, you're looking at the Canon G7/G9... or for more money, G10. You want Emo style photos, any camera can cut it. Pocketable? The G7/G9/G10 fits, along with many others such as those of the Fuji Finepix range.

I use to have the Fuji FinePix F30, brilliant little compact, full manual controls (No RAW unfortunately) but it's got brilliant high ISO to noise control, so it's almost perfect shots every time, with or without flash during night outs. The F30 been subsequently replaced by the F31FD and then the F40FD. Apparently the F50FD is not a lot different to the F40FD, just higher MP count on the same sensor, which (according to trusted reviews) equates to less effective low light shots.

So what say you?

I've just a a quick look on the intermaweb and they all look like just the ticket.

thanks guys i'll have a closer look tonite with a cup of tea and some bickys
