camera problems-pls help

Hi,
A friend is having problem with the computer no longer wants to recognise his camera so that he can download from the camera.

Any adea's?

I'm using windows XP.

I smell a rat!

1. Check for drivers.
2. Check device manager to see if it's appearing as an "unknown device" when plugged in. If so, unplug, see if it vanishes. If not right click on it and select uninstall, then reattach the camera.
3. It does have a memory card in it doesn't it? Otherwise it might not show up.

Is the camera charged and turned on?

Is the memory card working properly/can you preview pics in-camera?

Have you tried putting the card into a different device and copying through that?
