Camera storage question

At the moment I'm a rear lens cap missing so to save it lying out / in my bag open to the elements I keep my 50mm attached to my camera. Does anyone else keep a lens attached to the camera when not in use or is it preferable to have the camera and lens separate with their appropriate caps on?

Stupid question really but asked it anyway :D

Yup I always leave my 10-22mm on as it's the lens I use most. If I'm going to grab my camera quickly to go and take a few snaps the odds are that's what I'll want to use, so no reason not to :)

I always keep my 18-55 on when it's in the bag, since it saves having to open up the camera to the air every time I want to use it.

Same, I never bother to take the lens off purely for storage. I don't know of any benefits to taking the lens off (would welcome any thoughts on this!), and I'm as careful as I can be in preventing dust from getting in there so my lens changes are like a McLaren pitstops :D

Like the rest, I keep the lens I'm most likely to use mounted on the camera. In almost 40 years of SLR photography I've never heard a reason why I shouldn't.
