Hi all,

Currently have a 400D, and am thinking of upgrading. My main issue is the quality of the preview screen. I have a friend with a sony slr, and that screen is beautiful.

Now im not sure how much I would get for my 400D + grip, but I can put about £300 on top of that. Im guessing maybe £200/£250 for the 400D and grip? Id keep my 17-85mm. Does that price sound about right?

Looking at TP, I could get a 500D / 550D / 50D. How do they compare?

It doesnt have live view, but you can view the pictures on it like all? dslrs

Whats the screen like on the 40d?

The 50D is definitely on the top end of my budget. Think I will take a look at a 500D first.

What would be the equivalent nikon upgrade?

I've currently got a 400D and 17-85mm

Im thinking of these prices for my current kit

400D body - £180
OEM grip - £60
17-85mm - £170

Sound about right?

Ok sold my 400D. Keeping the lens.

So the question is....I dont think im going to go for the 40D, so do I go for the 50D or the 550D? I had to grip my 400D for it to be comfortable, so I guess the 550D would be the same. How would the 50D compare in size to the gripped 400D?

Nice one thanks. Arghh Im now considering a lighting setup and sticking with the 400D. Although I dont have space to set up the lighting and a background at home so would be hiring a studio which tend to have flash setups available anyway I think. Really don't know what to do. Im still a novice so not sure whether the jump to the 50D/550D would be a bit lost on me.

Im more in to my portraits and glamour photography, never really do landscapes or sports.

Went for the 550D and cant help thinking I made the wrong decision. Not even picked it up yet tho lol
