Camera....

Thats what im debating, and tbh its not that they are to cheap, but the image quality when compared to the 6500/9600 is... well pants. Im realy tempted by the 9600, but how much better is it over the 6500? As its an extra £65...

i think, but i'm not 100% sure, that the 6500 and the 9600 use the same sensor/image processor/lens combination. Although Fuji's site says the 9600 uses a Super CCD HR sensor and the 6500 a Super CCD. However, the 6500 manual says it uses the Super CCD HR as well

Check out these links...

S9600

The main difference between the two is face detection, which the 9600 lacks. However, the 9600 is 9mp where the 6500 is 6.3mp but that doesn't make much difference unless you intend on printing massive images or you heavily crop and enlarge your shots.

Looks like the 6500 will be my best bet then :) Thanks! Oh one last question, are you able to take shots while holding the camera, or do you need a tripod? (I have one, but I would sooner not have to carry it around with me!)

You most certainly can take shots whilst holding the camera. All my shots on Flickr are handheld. It's a very very comfortable camera to hold so you shouldn't have any problems.

Ah thats good then, if I move to much with my current pocket camera it just messes the image up! I do try not to move but thats quite hard hehe

Well, as with all cameras, if your shutter speed is high enough then a little bit of movement won't matter, but then the shutter speed depends on the lighting etc.

Basically if you've got a reasonably steady hand you'll be fine at 1/60 sec or faster (the 6500 goes up to 1/2000 sec and as low as 30 sec)
