Can a bent socket pin stop a mobo powering up?

My new Mobo was wouldnt power up on the first attempt, i RMAd it but OCUK say they have found bent pins in the socket. The MOBO hasnt got back to me yet so i cant see the pins (as they were fine when i RMAd it), but is it possible for bent pins to stop a mobo from showing any life at all, no lights, no fans, no power.

Short answer is yes, seen plenty of posts here with pics.

Only thing that can be done is have a look when you get the mobo back and see if you can re-align or straighten the pins but take care as the pins are very fragile and will easily break off.
