Can a Ethernet connected PC cause Modem/Router to drop net connection?

I had an issue most of yesterday where my modem router (ASUS DSL-N55U) would drop connection every 5 minutes or so, before reconnecting again. My PC is connected to the modem via ethernet cable.

However, the odd thing is that I wasn't experiencing any dropouts earlier in the day when I was only connecting to the router/modem wirelessly, using a laptop and iPad. It's only when I fired up my PC that the modem started to drop out continuously. The same thing is happening today. I'm typing this using my laptop and I've experienced no loss of internet connection from the modem.

Could my PC somehow be causing the modem to drop internet connection? I can't imagine how it could, but then why am I able to get a stable connection just using the laptop and other wireless devices?

Any help greatly appreciated. This is driving me nuts!:(

*FWIW, I did try different ethernet ports and cables yesterday, and the modem was still dropping internet connection.
