can a game cause a bsod?

just got a new game off steam (war-game: European escalation) and my PC has started bsoding occasionally while playing it and it has otherwise been stable ive taken off all my oc's to see if it was an unstable oc and its still occasionally bsoding anyone got any ideas or is it just a bad code in game or something?

it runs fine in bf3 tho so i suspect it may be a problem with the game

also whenever i load the game i get a high pitched whine for about 5 secs coming from my h100 or 6970 lightning cant quite narrow it down atm
 
just out of interest, are you running wargame in direct X 11?, i know that causes all sorts of crashes and other problems.
 
yep direct x 11


given me some wacked out errors too filling screen with complex error boxes with so much text in them but they do always mention dirext x11 just assumed was refering to how game was running
 
my advise (I had to do this) is change to dx9 for the time being until a fix is released, that sorted out the constant crashing I was having, and sorted out a bsod someone else was having, might do the same for you :)

edit: it the message box appearing says something about dx11 and access violation, then changing to dx9 should sort it out
