Can a graphics card just work in windows?

It was sold on FB locally. I've settled on £30 refund via PayPal. My own fault for not game testing beforehand.
30 is certainly closer to cards value than the 50 they wanted
Even if you had game tested it they could still have said it wouldn't game
So no point blaming yourself about it
I do cash on collection only they get to test it with whatever they want and that's the end of it
Not easy to do in the current situation though
Way I look at it would I rather just give them 30 quid or have it back and go through the hassle of reselling it

If you've already settled on a refund then fine, but personally I'd tell him to f-off.

You state that before the sale took place he was planning on changing the GPU anyway, therefore he did not factor in the cost of the GPU as part of the sale price. So if the GPU he had no intention of using doesn't work then how has he lost money? Furthermore, he's subsequently changed the machine from the condition you supplied it in by installing a new OS. You therefore have no way of verifying if the card actually gamed or not before it left your hands, so it's his word against yours over a component he had zero intention of using.

He can do one in my book.

Ffs... I just remembered something. Before the sale completed I left one thing on the hard drive as a “ thank you “ which I told him about . About 20 albums of hi-def music . Which were worth a few hundred quid.

Now I’m ****** off with myself.....grr
