¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've got it hooked up to an LCDTV right now, and trying out some HD clips right now.

Is it possible to send audio over HDMI, or is there any other other way, digital link if possible.

does a macbook pro have an HDMI port now?

I don't know the answer and don't have the time to investigate but if you are referring to the DVI port then no, it can't transfer sound. However, it has a TOSLINK port for all your optical goodness...

I'm using the DVI port now, with a HDMI to DVI cable.

Is the TOSLINK connection in the headphones port?

I thought that might be the case.

A DVI port doesn't carry sound so you will have to use the TOSLINK.

This is indeed the headphones port - you just need to plug an optical cable with minijack converter on the end into it and then attach that to your DAC/AMP whatever it is and the job is a goodun.

One thing I will point out is that for some reason my Mac keeps reverting to the System Sound Output when in DVD player so you have to change the preferences to use 'In-built Digital Out' which can require you to stop your film. Apart from that it works really well.
