hi guys,

i bought a new motherboard (recommended on this forum) and swapped it with my DFI infinity dark p965-s

the one i got is the GA-P31-DS3L

very happy with the mobo it works great (apart from not having firewire but thats my own fault for not reading the specs thoroughly enough... bought a pci addon card for that) and anyway, when i choose shut down the sleep option is greyed out...

i use sleep all the time so please dont tell me some motherboards just cant do it? i've installed the chipset drivers and the like so its foxed me a bit :(

could i also tag on another question: just read this on the gigabyte site which is mildly worrying:

* Because of chipset limitations, do not populate both DIMM sockets of the same channel (e.g. DDRII1 and DDRII2), or populate 4 DIMM sockets with double-sided memory modules to prevent system's failure to start or incorrect detection of memory modules. Please refer to the user manual for the memory configurations table.

does this mean my two sticks of ballistix (6400) both in the yellow slots is going to cause problems?

ACPI is probably not installed right if you just swapped motherboards without a reinstall.

I think the point is to put them into slots of different colors to enable dual channel, that gigabyte thing is pretty poorly written imo.

well could anyone confirm with this mobo what i should be doing? obviously i want the sticks in the right slots for maximum performance...

(sorted the standby thing... it resolved itself after a windows update... thanks :))
