given I have a LG194WT TN panel is it worth buying a 2007wfp which is S-IPS?

Best to use one to see if you think the extra cost is worth it for yourself and *** gained improvements!

What sort of improvements are you looking for? The 2007 will give you better colours, better viewing angles, higher res, bit bigger screen, better stand with height adjust and pivot (landscape/portrait mode), aspect ratio controls and the extra inputs.

I wouldn't say movie playback was one of it's strengths. IPS panels are some of the sharpest around and I think that makes you notice the noise and compression on movies a little more. Very much depends on the movie in question though, I've seen clips from Blade Runner and LOTR both in HD on my screen and while Blade Runner looked superb, LOTR had a lot of noise on it. I was watching a bit of Ice Age 2 (dvd) on it a few days ago and that also looked excellent.

I think the best way to put it is that it's not forgiving of movies with poor PQ.

I think I'll give it some thought over the weekend, I was going to buy it today, but I guess only fools rush in.

I have seen some 19" and 20" screens at PC world, and they all don't suffer from the same kind of digital noise problem my screen is faced with. I have been messing with my OSD settings for some time, and I still can't get it to a point where I am happy with it.

sorry mrk i did not see screenshots of cod2 i was chatting about my experience of cod2 on the benq 24".

the screenshots i spoke off have already been posted aka robbiekhan links.

colours just dont look right in some problem areas imho the tree one being the worst.

i still feel trapped with my crt as good as dead, SED a million light years away and no sign of a decent sized OLED wtf can i do :(

industry needs a serious wtf bbq roundhouse slap

Just get the NEC and have done with it man!
I've never used the NEC but I can remember several people on these forums in the past saying they weren't happy with the movie playback on theirs. BeHardware reckon you need to sit 1.5m back to not see what they describe at the 'twinkling effect' on movies (which might be the same noise I'm talking about on my 2007WFP which is a similar panel).
