Right here goes:

My friend and I have had a challenge running for the past 5 years or so in getting each other obscure cards for birthdays... But I'm struggling for English language cards for occasions that haven't been done already. Originality is the key.

Things such as cards for pets, religious festivals, get well soon have all been done, done, done.

So, is there anybody living in a non-English speaking country who can get me a card (preferably not even "Happy Birthday"), or can anyone suggest something original from this country? I'll pay for the card and appropriate postage to me!

Got until June 25th, but thought I'd throw it out early :)

Why not make a card and use google to translate your message in to another language.

I can have a nose around tomorrow for you.:)

Magic. The tackier the better.

This year I got a "On Your Confirmation" card, with a huge verse and lots of flowers, no idea where he managed to find that one.

There were some absolute gems though from my time in France, I got my sister a massive Brice de Nice card with "20? Cassééééé" on the front. It was bright yellow too.

That's the only card you should ever buy if you live in Nice

And that means? :)

Well cassé literally means "broken" but it's a bit of a way of saying "owned." But you really have to have seen the film "Brice de Nice" to truly understand it, it's a cult classic :D

(in the way that if I said "dude, that's your mom!" to a French person who had never seen Bill & Ted's excellent adventures they wouldn't really get it either)

My flatmates home for 2 weeks. Since he's Chinese i'm sure he could track down some obscure birthday cards. If you want i'll ask him if i see him on msn?

Was in a shop yesterday and there were cards for people taking/passing exams, I know its not a new idea with regards to cards but I just thought its pretty random if hes not taking any exams
Just a thought.

Forget foreign language - clintons do a civil ceremonys card as far as i remember because we were going to do a similar thing to a friend for his birthday..

Chinese! Yes. And French. I won't turn down multiple cards either, could get a few years supply in one go! :D

Think he did driving test last year, even though we both passed at 17. So exam ones I could look for.

Weddings have been done, not sure he'd understand the humour of the civil partnership though

That would work :) Something really obscure and not related to birthdays?

E-mail's in trust if anyone can help me, I won't keep bumping this thread :p

Yeah, sorry been very busy, will have a nose in the morning, have to go into town. Lots of musical cards here.

Right, it's that time of year again boys and girls, I need a hand. French was good last year, but he could translate that. Can anybody send me a Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Hebrew or such card? Doesn't have to be "Happy Birthday", he might never know what it says! Any help appreciated! Hull isn't very multi-cultural, so I've got no chance of getting one there :(
