It's a WD5000AADS and recently it's started running really slow, so I ran a benchmark and found this. Ran a defrag, still no difference. Thanks, Ben.
Can anyone diagnose?

Only logical thing I can think of is the drives cache memory is playing up at larger queue depths.
I had a similar (though nowhere near as extreme) result with an SSD - turned out to be a faulty cable. Could be worth checking it on a different port too.

It's actually started working again, just slow. And only locks up when I'm downloading something through chrome, and I have to navigate to the folder.
I bought it from a friend, so I don't think I can.
rma it,its about as fast as a usb memory stick right now

There was nothing else running when I ran the first benchmark with atto. It's not at full speed, the problem still persists.

If its in warranty, dosen't matter whos rma'ing it. WD don't ask for proof of purchase.

Moved it to a crappy PCI sata add-in card and it's working.

Hmm.. possibly chipset problems on your board? Try removing and reinstalling your storage controller drivers.

I don't see how it'd affect it though. I have an SSD and 3 other hard drives on it, all are fine.
Reinstalled just for good measures, HDD works using onboard SATA now. Wierd. Thanks for the help.
