Can anyone explain this graph (HDTach)

Just finished building a new PC, and running a RAID5 array across 4 Maxtor 80GB SATA drives (not SATAII, ad only 80GB because I had them lying around doing nothing and thought I'd make use).

Now the speed, I assume is ok for the setup (onboard RAID on Abit IP35-PRO), but I don't understand the rather large troughs at regular intervals on the graph, can anyone shed some light?

It is just probably some application accessing the HDDs while HDTach was running.

Lot of background ACT there, esp big dip, run it 2-3 times in a row, make sure your AV or such aint doing a scan or update at same time.

I am sure you have changed the graph compared to earlier. The CPU utilization was deffo 3-4% and there was a couple of big dips, now one big one and the average was quite a bit lower I am sure

However, I would go with what was said above.
