Can anyone help me make a cannon to shoot small objects (Oranges, balls, kittens etc)

I once made one that was about 6 foot long and could fire about 400 yards.

The police don't like them. I found this out after beeing mobbed on Seaham beach by Durham Constabulary's armed response team. Not funny at the time, although they were mighty impressed when I showed them how far it could fire :D
 
Get a chicken gun. That's right, a chicken gun. Apparently, used in the aviation industry to simulate stupid birds hitting planes. Great fun. I'll find a video.

For laughs, replace dead chicken with live one.

I suggest a rethink of the original concept.

Find out how the canons work that "Human Cannonballs" use.

I think it is a strong spring in a tube.

Much safer, and any kitten you try it out with might survive.

I made one a while ago out of a few bits and bobs from Focus. It was pretty fun :D

All i needed was:

  • Pipe
  • Telescopic bottle trap
  • A blanking plug
  • A lantern sparker

Put it all together with some glue gun and away ya go :)
 
One of my mates has one, made out of drain pipe of various sizes, even has a thread on back and piezo through the side to create the spark, must be good for at least 500 metres, oranges are still going up when they go out of sight.

Brought it round on fireworks night and decided to fire it when someone was lighting a firework, the guy lighting the firework was not impressed to say the least.

I ordered a load of pvc tubing today to make one.

It's not a good thing now I have all this spare time :o

how do you feel about gunpowder? the other option would be co2 , rigging a can of lynx or whatever wouldnt work out well, and lighter fluid, well, would just burn down your room
