Hi,

Just bought Street Fighter V, never really got into fighting games before, but I am enjoying this a lot. Never realised how much depth was in these games.

So lots of people seem to be using fight sticks, they look like good fun, are they worth it? Also look good for platform games which I am a big fan of.

I am a noob and learning my trade in Street Fighter, started to win a few fights now. Will be back to square on with a stick?

If so what am I best buying, seems like a minefield.

Have used fight sticks since the Saturn era - They defonitley improve your game but you need to be dedicated to using it as the first few hours/days can feel like your messing everything up depends on the person and dedication.

If possible try and use before you buy as you will need to see if you prefer a square or an octagonal gate - This drives your inputs with the stick with a square gate you only have 4 corners to move and feel with octo you have 8 - Personally I use octo but the mass seem to prefer square.

You can also use in platform games no worries.

It will not take long for you to get to gripes with the stick just hit training mode for a while and practice basic inputs and quarter circle turns.

My main fightstick at the moment is a Tournament edition PS3 one with I have used on the PS4 with no issues thanks to a USB device - Street fighter 5 however works with my stick on PS4 as standard not sure about PC as I got for PS4 instead at the moment.

A half decent stick with good buttons second hand will set you back at least £70 - £100 I imagine but its been a while since I looked at pricing - Sanwa parts are what you are looking for in your stick so always read the descriptions.

In time you can even modify the buttons, stick and gate so you could get a cheaper one to test and upgrade the parts and artwork later on.

Edit - My TE Stick worked right out the box with my PC even though it was meant for PS3 - But I remember reading this was not always the case for some people but there are ways around it as long as it has USB connection you will get it working one way or another.
