Can anyone help me explain my logfile?!

I've been having real problems with my AMD 3800+ X2 system (XP SP2). I've stopped overclocking, but the problem persists.

My PC often gets to a state where it pauses for about 6-10 seconds. Sometime this happens as often as every 30-60 seconds. Eventually, it locks un completely and requires a reboot.

I've tried all sorts of thing, and eventually looked in the event viewer, and found the following:

I think that seems to be the problem - the pattern seems to match what I'm experiencing. Can anyone suggest what's causing it, and how I can fix it?!

Sounds like the disk could be on the way out. Can you go back into Event Viewer and double click on one of the atapi errors and one of the disk ones and post screenshots of the error detail?

These are the two reports:

Any particularly recommended way to test my discs? The way I look at this, it might be the discs, or the hardware or software of the controller.

It's an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard.

You could try out this. You put in the version of Windows and the error code and it should tell you what the problem is. I just tried it now and I couldn't get any results.

It might be an idea to run a chkdsk on your PC. If it comes back with errors we know it is the hard disk and we can work on from that. If that comes back OK then we need to investigate the eventID errors. I'm googling them now but with little luck.

I found this but it doesn't look entirely relevant but then you know what hardware your PC is running so you should be able to work out if it is useful or not.

What disks do you have in your system? IDE, SATA, CD/DVD, USB, External, Card Readers ?

What is plugged into IDE Port 5? What is Hard Disk 1(D)?
