Can anyone help with SSD issue?

I am having an issue with my 1TB 860 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6GBPS 64 LAYER 3D V-NAND SOLID STATE DRIVE (MZ-76E1T0B/EU).

My PC when I recieved it on 30/10/2019 from Overclockers was fine (they built the PC). Only, one month later, my PC keeps failing to pick up the SSD. I assumed it could be a loose cable so I opened the side panels and inspected it with my limited knowledge of PC components. I found no loose cables, even after tracing them right from the SSD to it's connection points.

I'm unsure on how to proceed, would it be better to use Overclockers' customer service and see if they can offer a fix under warranty or is there something glaringly obvious that I'm missing that could remedy the situation?

Thanks in advance
Phil

Does it show up when you go into the BIOS?

If it's intermittent then it certainly sounds like it could be a cable issue - maybe try plugging it into another SATA port on your motherboard?

Cables are cheap. But one of the first things to do is unplug both the data and power cables at both ends and plug them back in firmly. This just ensures that the problem isn't just a dodgy connection.

It could be any of the following...

Bad cable
Bad PSU
Bad Sata Port

Things to try:

  1. Move the sata cable connected to the SSD to another port on your sata port on your motherboard and see how it goes after a few reboots. If it still does it then you can rule that out.
  2. If 1 fails then replace the sata cable (Cables are cheap to replace) and try again, if problem still persists then try step 3.
  3. Try it in a different computer if you don't have a spare PSU to put into your system for testing.
I actually had this issue before and i used this methodology to determine my issue. For my personally it turned out to be a fauly psu which wasn't sending enough power to the sata power cable that was connected to the psu. Replaced my psu and issue was gone.
