Can anyone help with these abstract patterns?

Well done bud - what style was it in? How long was the interview? Left feeling confident?

email today - 28th November - Newcastle Interview

Damn, only just saw your post. I signed an NDA before the interview so can't go into specifics.

It was quite a short interview. I didn't majorly fall down on any questions, and I didn't find anything too taxing.

Well done on your Newcastle interview! You just had a Durham interview too right? How did that go?

An NDA for an interview :O.
Sounds a bit overkill, I have just had a couple of interviews and they were fairly easy. Though I sort of missed the hammer for UCL as some guys were getting asked really hard calculus stuff.

Can I ask what those "abstract reasoning" questions are supposed to measure? I just don't get it :/ If you are really good at those questions, are you supposed to be good at some kind of real world problem solving?

Or is it lolpsychology ?

What course are you applying for? I think it's cos medicine is so competitive that they don't want candidates to get an advantage

It's apparently to test a candidate's ability to form a hypothesis, test it and adjust if necessary. But the UKCAT is quite a BS test.

BOOM! Offer from King's! :D :D :D

Grats mate, that's a nice achievement!

UCAS application has now been sent guys I take it?

I've applied to:

Newcastle
Durham
Manchester
Hull/York

You know Newcastle and Durham are essentially the same Medical School don't you? They've got a combined pool of applicants. I applied to Newcastle and got an interview at Durham (where I didn't apply).

Woohooo! Excellent news mate, well done, you must be over the moon! :D :D :D

I do indeed - Newcastle is my #1 choice at the moment, but due to my UKCAT score, I can guarantee an interview at Newcastle AND Durham. Most applicants choose Newcastle with "no choice" for campus - I used two UCAS choices and chose them individually. If I get into Durham, then I'll do two years there, and three years at Newcastle.

Durham interview went OK - very lovely, but I didn't like the style. They knew nothing about me - hadn't looked at PS or UCAS application. Just generic interview questions and ethics.

Newcastle on the 28th.

and found out today I have a HYMS interview on the 12th.

Nice! Well done man, more interviews! Seeing as you now have 3 interviews, your chances will be quite high!

Congrats dude! Heard anything from B'ham or Notts?

Just got an email from Manchester - Feb interview!

Awesome well done man! I hear Manchester's interviews are...interesting.

Not heard a thing from Brum or Notts but don't particularly care at the moment, still got the euphoria from the King's offer.

So very understandable, I'd be over the moon still as well!

I have a friend who had a Manc interview last week, going to catch up tomorrow and he'll fill me in. Funnily enough, he used the word "interesting" as well, but also seemed to love it

Late March...!!!

Any more interviews for yourself, or just happy with the epic King's offer?!

Should say dude, the conversion from interview to offer (for Durham) is ridiculously high.

When I applied (3 or so years ago now) Durham gave offers out to something like 95% of the people that they interviewed. Unis that use a UKCAT cut off all tend to have a high conversion (60%+), but Durham seems to be the highest.
