Can anyone speculate when the new iMac will be released?

I'm looking to buy one of these however the technical specification looks pretty poor - even compared to the new Retina Macbook Pros. If I remember correctly they last refreshed the iMac lineup some time ago so surely it's due for one soon?

Does anyone have any idea when they might do so?

Still drumming our fingers on the desk on the desktop front.

October is the current best bet but they are starting to take the **** a bit on this front...

I do like the new iphone but have a genuine interest in having a new mac mini, with the new intel processors and an upgraded graphics card, so they could have by now hinted at least for something happening (no longer need a laptop either).

Making me grumble a bit

I hope so. I'm having to use my parents to do all my design work at the moment as this MBP is absolutely useless for doing websites/photography etc. It would be mad however to buy one now when they could refresh it any time soon.

I'll be honest, if something new was coming about we'd hear about it. Unfortunately, I have a feeling it will be a little while yet. We'll probably see an MBP 13" Retina first, as that is their most important line (and it would finish their new laptop lineup). We'll see though...not looking to upgrade though, receiving a brand new replacement soon anyway!

Well didnt Tim Cook say there wouldnt be an iMac update until 2013? or did I just make that up?

Mac Pro only. iMac, unknown, probably earlier.

I had a play with the Retina 15"" MBP in the Apple store today and I was thoroughly impressed. It's amazing how much you can fit on such a small screen. I'm suddenly considering replacing my current MBP with one of those instead of an iMac!

On the other hand I wasn't impressed with the iPhone 5.

They're in constraint in a big way in the reseller channel.

This often means something, and sometimes doesn't. I suspect it does this time.

An update is well overdue, but I'd hardly say that the 'technical specification looks poor'!!

Technically it's fine, it's just way past the "scheduled" refresh cycle.
