I've been with my particular setup for about 6 months, has been working fine no problems.

Now, and the past few days everytime I switch on the PC the fans spin up and lights come on, but only for a few seconds, and this can happen 3/4 times in a row.

After the 3rd or 4th time the monitor will usually get signal, post screen then windows...

I was just wondering if any one has had a similiar problem, and can it be related to the cold. This is at the end of the day and no ones been in the house, when it does first boot up get a reading of about 14c for system temp (but it goes up).

MAde sure all connections are fine and everything.

Latest bios.

Have the Phenom II 555 (stock 3.3ghz) @3.95ghz
2gb DDR2 800mhz
Running on biostar GF8300e mobo at the moment.

Its been stable at that clock for 6 months!

HT is @ 2080

Memory 416mhz (1:2)

Thing just takes 3 or 4 attempts to post past few days!

LOL..

Its a 650w OCZ Stealth X Stream...

Only other thing I have on it is one dvd drive, 1 hdd and a 5850.

Thing is when it does boot up (after 3/4 tries) it runs fine for hours...

Just if left off for more than say 5ish hours it will take 3/4 spin ups to post and boot!!!

I had this problem after leaving the window open over night.. I started it about 3/4 times and it worked. I think your comp just needed to warm itself up.

It's definitely nothing to do with being cold, computers love the cold and the operating temperatures for components go way below freezing. My money's still on the psu, it's a common problem with them, I have seen it many times before. Try another psu if you have one.

could be a cold boot issue ive had it before in the past old athlon system did it cpu and ram was overclocked, wouldnt boot first time but was fine after that pain but the extra bandwith was worth it, very heavily clocked.
